Race Report - Scottish Championship & KMSC 300s

This was my 2nd race weekend at Knockhill Race Circuit and this time it was in reverse direction so again something new for me to try.

Tuesday

Every Tuesday before the race weekend at Knockhill, they have a Rider Development Session in the evening which is great for extra track time.

We did a couple of sessions and some practice starts which was really useful to get used to going in reverse direction. I knew I wouldn't be able to attend the track day on the Friday due to my dad being at work so was glad I had the opportunity to attend on the Tuesday.

Saturday

Format for the day was Warm Up, Qualifying, Race 1 (Scottish Championship), Race 1 (KMSC Championship)

Qualifying consistently improving and dropping my lap times

8th out of 13 - 1:01.652

Race 1 (Scottish Championship)

Restricted Class - 1st (There were only 2 restricted bikes in the class - myself and Jessica)

Overall - 8th out of 12

Best lap time - 1:01.798

Race 1 (KMSC Championship)

Restricted Class - 1st

Overall - 9th out of 12

Best lap time - 1:01.368

Sunday

Format was Warm Up, Race 2 (Scottish Championship), Race 2 (KMSC Championship)

Race 2 (Scottish Championship)

Restricted Class - 1st (Jessica had gone home so I was 1st by default just by finishing the race. Hopefully we can start to encourage more youngsters to join the class and build up the grids)

Overall - 9th out of 10

Best lap time - 1:01.887

Race 2 (KMSC Championship)

Restricted Class - 1st

Overall - 6th out of 8 (a few incidents in this one but all riders ok thankfully)

Best lap time - 1:01.059

I got good starts on all my races. Once I got to grips with doing the track in reverse I started to like it although still think I prefer it the normal way. I had some good battles with Brooklyn at the start of some of the races and with Archie, especially in the second to last race where he pipped me at the finish. Well done! On the last race, I got my best start and managed to pass a few people. They passed me back on the second straight though. Every lap they pulled away a bit more but I could still see them for the rest of the race so that's progress!

There are other bikes that run in these sessions/groups but are not included in the championship due to their spec so it's not so easy to know exactly where I placed overall against unrestricted. However, my points are allocated against the restricted class so that's all I need to focus on for now.

Was good to see my buddy Kade Watt racing at Knockhill. He runs in the Bemsee championship down south and was having some great battles with Kian McDonald. They both did awesome all weekend. (Kade decided not to take any points as was just there for extra track time.)

Also, well done to Ritchie on his wins in the Unrestricted 300s and Jack Dunabie on his 1st places on his Metrakit 125. Darren Cox also did fab considering his bike issues on the Aprilia 125 (that kept his dad busy.)

Unfortunately no upgraded signatures for my licence this weekend as I didn't make the top 50% in the 300 class but that's not an easy task with the low number of restricted bikes so I'm still happy with my results. Only a couple of signatures to go though, woo hoo!
